Do you currently utilize private video surveillance at your home or business? If you do, we would like to hear from you.
Video surveillance is one of the effective methods for apprehending criminals and convicting suspects who are caught in the act of committing a crime. Installing and registering your video surveillance is a great example of community-police partnerships and is something the Fulton Police Department values highly.
How Does it Work?
Through the Community Camera Program, locals and business owners can register the locations and capabilities of their security camera systems with the Fulton Police Department. That means in the event of a crime, the Fulton Police Department will be able find nearby video cameras, gather video evidence, and pursue leads.
What are the Benefits of Registering your Camera?
Simply put, one of the most effective methods to identify and prosecute offenders is through video surveillance, which captures criminals in the process of committing the crime. Many residents and company owners are unaware that their camera systems may have recorded information that could aid in the investigation of crimes that happen close by. Similarly, police aren’t always aware of who may have access to possibly vital video evidence.
Registration
The Fulton Police Department invites you to register your camera so that officers can quickly identify nearby cameras that may have captured criminal activity. Once registered, the Fulton Police Department will only contact you if there is a criminal incident close to you and police personnel believe that viewing the footage will assist with the investigation.
Terms and Conditions
The information you provide regarding your camera systems will be for official use only. Your personal information will remain confidential and not be distributed except as required by law or court order.
This program is completely voluntary, and you can withdraw your permission for accessing video footage from your camera system at any time by contacting the Fulton Police Department. If necessary, the Fulton Police Department will contact you directly to obtain the appropriate video surveillance footage, using the information you supplied at the time of registration. Any video evidence including or connected to criminal activity gathered by the Fulton Police Department may be used as evidence at any stage of a criminal process. Under no circumstances may registrants construe what they are doing as acting as an agent and/or employee of the City of Fulton or the Fulton Police Department.
